It's interesting how they attach the magnet on the pigeon's head and the pigeon can't find the way back home because it messes up the pigeon's internal GPS. The video was very well made.
I agree w/ you, Brandon, this was very well thought out before hand. What puzzles me, however, is how the magnetite actually directs the other creatures. Does it irritate the part of the brain facing north? Or does it literally pull the creature in the direction of another magnet?
It probably attracts them in a direction by their brain telling them where to go(probably like instinct).
Adding on to that, if the Earth's magnet were to be pulling on the creature, they would always be walking in one direction.
I really liked watching the video and see their different methods for studying the migration such as putting a magnet on a pigeons head.
For some reason, I could not see the video. However I heard the audio. I think that it is very interesting that bacteria act as magnets to guide animals.
I thought it was interesting how the pigeons have internal magnets and how when they added another magnet to the pigeon it didn't fly like a normal pigeon would. Overall, I thought that this article was AMAZING!!!
