I thought that the article about Tasmanian Devils would be interesting because of the fact that the cancer is somehow contagious. If you read the last paragraph, there is a really cool passage about genetics kind of. :] Hope you like the article.

To Sophia: Yeah, it is sad. Nearly 70 % of the population is dying down! D:

It was exciting to read about cancer ( to me at least.) A week ago, I had someone die in my family due to Leukemia, so I want to find a cure to that. Knowing about other cancers will help me find a cure…

If they study the cancer, could they gain any information that could possibly help find a cure for the human cancer?

This was a great article. I had no idea this was happening. I never would of though of the fact that the cancer is contagious for the Tasmanian Devils, or contagious to anyone for that matter. It is interesting that the cancer gets past their immune system because their DNA is so close. To answer Brandon's question, I do not think that finding a cure to this cancer will necessarily help us find a cure for human cancer. It may spark ideas, but not a cure because I don't think our DNA and genetic information is close to that of Tasmanian Devils, but this is just my thought. I hope the cure that scientists are working on is ready in time to save the rest of the population. 30 to 50 years is not a lot longer for their population to survive on!

I really like this article! Like Ara, I had someone die in my family when I was in 3rd grade due to colon cancer, so I made a deal with the person that died to be a doctor who can find a cure for cancer. So, this article was very fun (;/) to read?

I wonder if this cancer can somehow help humans find a cure for cancer?????

Kent, I don't think they do because they are genetically different. Plus, I don't think the TD's have Leukemia.
